Radiator Clog Prevention Measures

Dec 10, 2024

Radiator blockage may cause the engine to overheat and affect the normal operation of the vehicle. Here are some common radiator blockage prevention measures:

1. Check and replace coolant regularly
Check the concentration and amount of coolant regularly to ensure that it is in ideal condition. If the coolant concentration is too high or too low, the normal operation of the radiator will be affected. In addition, regular replacement of coolant also helps prevent the accumulation of scale and impurities.

2. Install a filter
Installing a filter at the radiator water inlet pipe can effectively filter out impurities and particulate matter in the water to prevent them from entering the radiator and causing blockage.

3. Clean the radiator regularly
Regularly use a high-pressure air pump and air gun to clean dust and debris on the surface of the radiator, or use a water gun to rinse it. In addition, you can also use a special wire harness cleaner to clean it to ensure the smooth flow of the inside of the radiator.

4. Avoid using hard water
Try to avoid using hard water as coolant, because hard water contains a large amount of minerals, which can easily form scale inside the radiator and cause blockage. It is recommended to use distilled water or deionized water as coolant.

5. Check the radiator fan regularly
Make sure the radiator fan starts at the appropriate temperature to assist in heat dissipation. If the fan starts frequently or does not work when it is not necessary, it may mean that there is a fault in the radiator and needs to be dealt with in time.

6. Check the thermostat regularly
The thermostat is a key component that controls the flow of coolant. If the thermostat fails, the coolant will not circulate normally, causing the radiator to be blocked. Therefore, it is very important to check the working status of the thermostat regularly.

7. Avoid long-term idling
Long-term idling will increase the engine temperature and increase the burden on the radiator, causing the radiator to be blocked. Therefore, try to avoid long-term idling, especially in high temperature environments.

The above preventive measures can effectively prevent radiator blockage and ensure the normal operation of the radiator, thereby protecting the engine from overheating damage. If you encounter difficulties in the prevention process, it is recommended to seek help from professional maintenance personnel.
